The challenges and potential of the offshore industry continue to grow apace. At the same time, this area requires very special solutions. NSW can meet stringent requirements as the recognized experts in offshore cables. Developed on a case-by-case basis, our cables are reliable and cost-effective even under extreme conditions. Over the years, NSW has adapted new materials such as special metal alloys, high-density cross-linked polymers, thermoplastics and synthetic yarn to improve the elasticity and operational reliability of its cables. This is how we combine the knowledge from the most varied application areas of our cables with the goal of meeting your challenges. Convince yourself.

Umbilicals

Offshore is often used as a synonym for the future, a future that we have been working on for decades. NSW provides solutions for the special control and communications requirements of advanced offshore technology, in particular offshore oil fields.

Our customers are facing ever-greater requirements. The distances are growing, water depths increasing more and more. These are only a few of the components on which we are working together with our customers. We are happy to take up this continuing challenge and the associated extreme requirements regarding electrical and mechanical stresses. We will develop products together to reduce cable diameters and weights.

Net Sounder Cables

One of our special cable applications is in the fishing industry. The deep-see fishing industry of today utilizes advanced technologies because the smallest failures can have expensive repercussions. The widely recognized cable experts from NSW offer durable, reliable and cost-effective solutions with quality and adaptability based on many years of experience.

The first electroacoustic net sounders were introduced in 1965. NSW quickly recognized the potential of a suitable coaxial cable to transmit data from the net sounders to the monitor screens aboard the trawlers. The cable had to ensure reliable data transmission and, at the same time, be strong enough to prevent loss of the net sounder. At that time, the required load at failure was approximately 12 kN. Over the years, the requirements got more stringent and today’s cables can withstand forces up to 70 kN.

NSW has a wide range of cable types for all needed applications. Most cables are in stock at NSW. These include both conventional coaxial cables with a load at failure of about 19 kN and double-reinforced cables with a load at failure of about 70 kN. Besides its use as the conductor for data transmissions and for securing the trawler electronics, this unusually strong cable is also used for lifting the headrope of the fishing net achieving a much larger net opening.
